Being a Therapist was not my first choice. I didn’t just “know” that I wanted to be a therapist. My first job after graduating from St. Bonaventure University was as a teacher. However as I saw the Social Worker come into my class and do all sort of creative and “cool” things with my students and their families, I just knew, I needed to be doing that. Within 6 months,I was enrolled at Adelphi Univesity and doing what I love– helping people find creative and sensible ways to cope with their challenges.

Play Therapy – I use Play Therapy as a tool to help children work through their problems. Typical talk therapy is difficult for younger kids, so having toys and games is a good way for them to express themselves. Sometimes the “play” is seen as something for the kids to do while they are talking, however more often children are using play to learn how to communicate feelings, problem solve, and practice new behaviors.
EMDR – EMDR is a therapy approach used to help relieve people of psychological stress. Read more at emdria.org
