Being a Therapist was not my first choice. I didn’t just “know” that I wanted to be a therapist. My first job after graduating from St. Bonaventure University was as a teacher. However, after I noticed the Social Worker come into my classroom and do all sort of creative and “cool” things with my students and their families, I just knew, I needed to be doing that! Within 6 months, I was enrolled at Adelphi University and on the path to doing what I love– helping people find creative, realistic and sensible ways to cope with their challenges.
I don’t have one technique that I use – my work with you will be tailored to your counseling needs – whether it’s traditional talk therapy, play therapy, group therapy, trauma, journaling, art/expressive, etc. We will work together to find the best way help you or your child/teen to make the changes necessary to relieve the stressor(s).
I have additional training in play therapy (using toys or games to help children express themselves), EMDR – which supports people in psychological stress (see EMDRIA.org for additional information) and ScreamFree Parenting techniques -learning how to take the screaming out of your parenting and parent in a calm manner.

Play Therapy – I use Play Therapy as a tool to help children work through their problems. Typical talk therapy is difficult for younger kids, so having toys and games is a good way for them to express themselves. Sometimes the “play” is seen as something for the kids to do while they are talking, however more often children are using play to learn how to communicate feelings, problem solve, and practice new behaviors.
EMDR – EMDR is a therapy approach used to help relieve people of psychological stress. Read more at emdria.org
Screamfree Parenting – Learning how to take the screaming out of your parenting and parent emotionally controlled and calm.
